Most international awards have categories for African acts but the trend for most of these awards is to give the African awards backstage, away from the main show.
Wizkid is not having any of that however as he stressed in a recent press conference.
The video was shared by NBS Television on his recent visit to Uganda.The singer stressed that if the organizers don’t show the same love they show his international counterparts, they can as well keep their love.

Before 2018, BET Awards used to present awards to African artistes backstage, or in front of an empty audience, hours before the main show starts.
Wizkid forced BET to stop that disrespect of African artistes. In 2017, Wiz won “BET Best International Act”.
He refused to show up for the event, & even called them out, & blasted them in an interview: “This is why I don’t go to the shows mehn”.
In the following year when Davido won, the award was presented to him at the main show in front of real audience.
Ever since then, African artistes have been receiving same treatment as their American counterparts at the BET Awards
He also explained that it is part of the reason why he does not attend most award shows.
